Nominated for a Pulitzer prize for his work, The Wired Society, he has written over 100 books. Many have been seminal in their respective fields. The Meaning of the 21st Century is his latest work.
Martin is well known for the accuracy of his predictions about future technology and it’s impact on society. His book Technology’s Crucible published in 1987 describes a terrorist attack on New York city in 1998.
After reading physics at Oxford he joined IBM. Later he founded James Martin Associates which in turn became known as Headstrong. Subsequently he became a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for the US Department of Defence.
In addition to his Litt D from Oxford he has been the recipient of over a dozen honorary doctorates from universities world wide. He has often been dubbed as the “Father of Case” (Computer Aided Systems Engineering) – tools that aid automate software development.
